Upcycled Garage Sale Bicycle Planter

**Don't forget to enter my DIY Mason Jars book giveaway here!**

I stopped at a local garage sale this morning on my way home from the post office.  Much of it was overpriced ($15 for a wreath, c'mon!), but I did score this cute little bicycle planter.  It was marked $5 but I got it for $4 (it's never to early in the morning to haggle!).
It was pretty rusty so I knew it would immediately get a few coats of spray paint.  Since it's so warm out here today, I was able to do two coats in less than an hour!  Here it is now:
I like that it's still a bit chippy but no more rusty spots.  It's holding an actual bird's nest that we recovered last year.
I'm thinking of adding some chicks and hens (or is it hens and chicks?!) to the other two baskets.

  1. That is adorable! I love it! It looks good in that spot under your big tree, too.

  2. How cute! What a great price, and it is looking so much better since you spray painted it! I agree, hen & chicks would be perfect:)
