A couple of weeks ago Lin from A Tiny Cottage in the Woods posted a gorgeous French basket she made. Needless to say, I was smitten. So when I scooped up this picnic basket for $2 at a local flea market, I knew I immediately wanted to copycat.
I gave it a few coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey. I wanted to give it an aged look, so I let some of the original color of the basket show through.
I tied the openings with some tea-stained seam binding and added a French postcard (image courtesy of The Graphics Fairy).
I would love to add some pretty fabric to the inside for a liner but I'm not quite sure how to do that.
For now, I'm happy to sit back and admire my $2 French basket.
