A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

Got a random drink caddy hanging around?  This one, from the Christmas Tree Shops, has been sitting in my she-shed for years.  I loved the color, but it was really lacking personality.
Fast forward to Pinterest, where I found this ice cold drinks printable.  I simply printed it on to waterslide decal paper.  I cut it to size and gave it a few coats of clear spray paint.  Add it to a bowl of water until the decal slides off the paper.  Attach to both sides and DONE!

Now I have a drink caddy with personality!

The 4th of July is right around the corner.  So now is the perfect time to whip up some mini American flag pillows.
Start with a small flag (mine is from the Dollar Store) and some backing fabric.  I used a piece of coffee-dyed for my pillow.  If you're using a sewing machine, turn the pieces inside out.  If you're hand-sewing, leave them rightside out.  Then just get busy stitching.
Leave a small hole to add your stuffing.  Once you have it filled to your liking, close it up.
And then you have your very own mini patriotic pillow!  Easy peasy!

It all started with this cake plate.
I spied it down in the basement (I normally use it for Valentine's Day decor) and thought how pretty it would look if I swapped out the red ribbon for black.  So that's just what I did.
And somehow my kitchen morphed into a black and white palette.  I'm wondering why I didn't do it sooner as I'm loving the new look!  Best part is: I already had everything I needed.  For instance, I painted the cloche plate black - it was originally pink.  The scale and pitcher were already on the counter.
Then I made a quick banner using vintage Bingo cards.  I'm crushing on it so hard!
And voila! - here we are.  I also painted the small canning jars black and added white clothes pins (hard to see them in the pic).  This small changed cost me zero and it really gave our kitchen a whole new look.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed, along with my craft projects, I've been sharing lots of homemade meals.  I love to cook and am always on the hunt for new recipes to try.  Today, though, I'm sharing a simple macaroni salad recipe using Tuscanini Foods' Fusilli Tricolori Pasta* ($3.99 for 16 ounce bag).
I chose the Tricolori because it's one of my kids' favorite pastas.  To start, simply follow the directions on the package to cook the pasta.  While the pasta is cooking, start slicing and dicing your peppers and onions.  I didn't have celery, so I used some sliced carrots in the salad for an extra crunch.  You can really add any vegetable that you fancy.  My husband even likes peas in his macaroni salad!
Once the pasta is drained and cooled, add it to a large bowl with your pepper and onions.  Add one cup of mayonaise (or more or less depending upon your taste), one tablespoon of vinegar (regular or rice vinegar as I used) and salt & pepper.  Mix all ingredients together.  Chill before serving.

Easy peasy and oh-so-delicious!  I really enjoyed the Tuscanini pasta brand.  If you've never heard of them, here is some info:

From the rolling hills of Italy, Tuscanini Foods is rolling out a new lineup of gourmet food products that bring the taste of Italy to your table for a truly authentic Italian dining experience.
This superior brand of foods is imported from Italy, famously identified for its traditions and age-old recipes. From the mountainous Dolomite region to the idyllic Sardinia Island, products are sourced from artisans that specialize in offering only the best quality ingredients.

What a beautiful weekend here in New York.  Finally!  It definitely helped get the creative juices flowing again.  I've been striking out at the thrift store lately and I missed yesterday's garage sales, so I had to make do with items I already had for this post.
I used my Cricut, self-sticking vinyl paper and a canvas to make this simple sign.  I'm digging the black and white, but I feel like it's missing a little something.  And oh what a pain getting those letters on.
I've had this starfish image forever.  It's one of the first digital downloads I ever bought from Etsy.  It never goes out of style and I love how it looks in a simple black frame.
This last one makes me chuckle.  Susan from Homeroad used it on a great transfer project, and I just had to print it out too.  My boys actually asked me what bloomers were. LOL!
Here's another shot of it.  I found the image on Pinterest.  Simply search for ladies must wear bloomers.  Tee hee!

In other news, I've decided to expand my blog to include fashion, cooking and lots of other categories.  Hope you'll enjoy the small changes and keep coming back for more!
