I got these scented candles from the dollar store awhile ago.  I didn't have a clear idea in my mind on what I was going to do with them so they sat and sat and sat.  Until today.
I printed out a wallet size version of this fabulous French label from The Graphics Fairy.  Distressed the edges a bit on both images.  Then, I rubbed it onto Dots to make stickers.  Then I just peeled and sticked.

Now I have some lovely French candles that cost $2 to make.  Yay!

**If you have a chance check me out at Knock-Off Decor!**

Don't you just love when an idea hits you completely out of the blue?  As I was making cole slaw for tonight's dinner, I spied the jar that the dressing came in.  I wasn't quite sure what I would do with it but I washed it out anyway.  Then it hit me:
I'm forever losing things in our craft room which is now doubling as my home office.  So I thought the jar would be perfect for storing my thread, spools, etc.  I found the Alice in Wonderland image and simply printed it out.  Then I hand-stamped the word notions.  Next, I distressed the edges and the front, and then mod podged it to the front of the jar.
Even the lid got the Alice touch!
Then I hot glued the lace to the top of the jar and added the button in the middle.  See how it holds all of my sewing notions so perfectly?  What's best is I had everything I needed for this sweet little jar!

Just got back from a lovely trip visiting my sister in Virginia.  We had a great time but I was so disappointed by the garage sales.  Maybe it was the holiday weekend?  Anywho, she lives in a very rural area and this is all I got:
The little chair I'm going to paint white.  The three year old has already staked his claim for it.  And you can never have too many cloches - especially for 99 cents!  We also popped over to the Leesburg Outlet, where I scooped up the pillow case from Restoration Hardware and the skeleton key.
We had a great time and hoping everyone is having a lovely holiday weekend too!  Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway!

I just couldn't resist getting this little christening dress at a recent garage sale.  Since I have two boys, I'm just guessing it's a christening gown but perhaps some sweet little girl wore this on Easter Sunday or another special occasion?!  Either way, it's adorable.
Here she is hanging up in our guest room which has a bit of a vintage theme going.  That's where my vintage camera and typewriter are and this fabulous stroller that my husband got me many moons ago as an Xmas present.  I've always adored vintage children's toys and the like.  Isn't it lovely?
Here's another view:
With the holiday weekend quickly approaching, I'm hoping there will still be some garage sales to venture out to.

I was so excited when the new Pottery Barn catalog arrived in our mailbox today.  So many goodies, where does one begin?!  When I flipped to this page, I knew a knockoff was in the works:

I printed off a number of images from The Graphics Fairy and added them to some black garage sale and Ikea frames.  Here's my version laid out on the floor:
The boots one is from a book I got at a library book sale.  I'm still on the lookout for an old purse image to finish up the collection and maybe add some smaller frames from the dollar store.

Once my husband adds hooks to the backs, I'll be able to arrange them on the wall.

Yesterday, I posted about some Goodwill finds that I scooped up over the weekend.  First on the makeover list was this little metal shaker.  I knew immediately which label from the Graphics Fairy would lend to its vintage appeal:
I printed off the image and used some Distressed Ink to make it look really old.  Since I wasn't in a mod podge mood, I placed it on the front using Dots - they turn anything into a sticker.  I added some twine on the top and bottom.  Still not done.  Wanted to give it an even older look so I took some scotch tape and started just randomly placing it on the paper and ripping it off.  You can see some of the rips if you look closely.
Add some dried flowers and done!

Since garage sale shopping was a bust for me on Saturday, I popped into the local Goodwill yesterday and so glad I did!  Just lookie at all the goodies I got for a mere $12:
I'm not sure if those ceramic dishes are dishes or candle holders (anyone, anyone?).  I got a set of 4.  The skinny little platter I thought would look lovely in my bathroom and provide a pretty spot to place the toothpaste.  The bath wash/salts I really got for the little vials but I am tempted to soak in a nice warm bath with them later.  I have a great image from the Graphics Fairy already planned for the front of the little metal shaker.
Isn't this little cherub clock adorable?  Of course it's missing the clock pieces but I'm sure that's an easy fix.  Thinking either a white or pink makeover. Decisions, decisions...

If you're like me, you have a thousand decorative bath soaps.  You know, the kind that smells heavenly but no one ever seems to use?  I have a bunch stacked up in the bathroom and while I was brushing my teeth this morning, I thought why not give them a quick makeover?
I headed on over to The Graphics Fairy and printed out some of my favorite Paris labels.  I did not take any before pictures of the soaps but some of them were wrapped in clear plastic and the others were just wrapped in their original packaging.
After printing out my images, I simply folded them along each soap and, gasp, taped them with regular ol' Scotch tape on the backs.  I think they look so much prettier now and make for a nice hostess or teacher's gift.

A lot of you have asked how I print on fabric.  I am by no means the genius behind this concept and I have seen the "how to" in blogland (on The Shabby Chic Cottage blog for one), but here is my tutorial on how to do it.

Here's what you will need:
One piece of cardstock, your fabric cut to the size of the cardstock and a can of spray adhesive.

Spray your cardstock with the spray adhesive:
Quickly attach your fabric - spreading out any bumps:
Cut any extra or loose ends so the fabric is perfectly matched with the paper and so it will fit into your printer.  Put into your printer tray with the fabric facedown (this only works with inkjet printers):
Choose your photo:
Press print and depending upon your computer, this window should pop up - press next and next again:
You should get this window next - choose the size you want and hit next:
The paper should feed through the printer like this:
And come out like this:
Peel the cardstock from your image and voila! - you are ready to roll!

Go ahead - give it a whirl and let me know how you make out!

So, how irritated were you by Blogger's outage yesterday and this morning?  At first I thought it was just me but when I woke up this morning and saw the problem still there, I did a Google search and that explained everything.  Still, I Kept Calm and Carried On - literally:
Don't you just love that saying in blue?  I was searching high and low for that blue hue and was ecstatic when I found it online yesterday.  It inspired me to change things up on my tv display.  Yes, I display things on my tv since we have one of those ancient box tv cabinets.
The candle holders are Calypso for Target.  Not bad at $2.99 each.  I also broke out my starfish from last year.

Once again, feeling very beachy and the weather is finally catching up with my mood.

Did you get your Pottery Barn Outdoor Living catalog yesterday?  I really like how they did some before and after shots of outdoor spaces.  But what I liked even more were their map candles.  Now I'm not sure if that's their official name but that's what I'm calling my knock-off versions:
I printed the vintage map images off The Graphics Fairy and simply mod podged them to the tall prayer candle and then onto the actual smaller candle.  Now I just need to find a medium-sized one to complete my look.

I had everything I need so zero spent for this mini project!
