'Tis the season for holiday treats! And I'm sharing a few your whole family can enjoy - courtesy of TheSoul-Publishing, the company behind the popular YouTube channel 5-Minute Crafts.
Snowman Marshmallow Cookies: After baking some plain sugar cookies, cover each in white icing, then stick a large marshmallow in the center. Add your snowman's features using brown icing, and you've got your very own Frosty the Snowman!
Mini Christmas Trees: All you need is a bowl of melted white chocolate and some ice cream cones. Add a few drops of green food coloring to the chocolate until you get that perfect evergreen shade, then dip your ice cream cones in it. Cover in sprinkles to really make these TREEts festive.
3-D Holiday Cookies: To make treats that really pop, you'll only need to perform a few extra steps. Cut out a typical shape, such as a tree, but remove a vertical rectangle from the bottom of the shape. Then, cut out another tree (but only the bottom half), and remove a vertical rectangle from the top of this shape. Cook, frost, and then fit the pieces together to make 3-4 cookies that stand up on their own.
You can find even more ideas here.
Enjoy!

How cute are these mini stockings from Dollar Tree? When I saw them, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them...
I hand-stamped our names onto each stocking. Then I added some mini bells (also from Dollar Tree) using red-painted safety pins. Easy peasy!
I'll be using these as place settings for our Christmas table.
Total cost: $2.50 for the stockings. I had everything else I needed.

Who doesn't love a good freebie?
Or two? Or three? No need to sign up for a "newsletter" (don't you just hate that!) or follow me. Simply right-click any image to save to your computer and use in your Christmas crafts.Keep in mind these are vintage card images, so they may not be as crisp as a typical jpg. They're still fun to use - however you may see fit.Jeanine
Not long ago, I ran a blog called One Cheap B*tch. While the name raised quite a few eyebrows back then, the concept was simple: how to save more of your hard-earned money by creating your own home decor. If you're like me, you're probably feeling the crush of the economy and wondering how you can save this holiday season. I'm no financial expert. I'm just a regular mom, but here's how I'm saving a little extra during these hard times.
1. eBay is not only ideal for selling unwanted clothing, electronics, etc., it's also great for finding affordable Christmas presents. Case in point, I wanted to get my 17 year old Cards Against Humanity. Target and Walmart are both selling it for $29. Womp, womp. I found a brand new, unopened box on eBay for $19 with free shipping! I saved $10 right there. Ditto for unopened boxes of Legos, Minecraft and more. I prefer the Buy it Now option, but if you're patient, auctions can also save you a ton. (And don't forget, you can make a little extra cash selling that J. Crew sweater you no longer wear or that gaming console that your kids outgrew.)
2. Get paid to shop. I've been a member of Rakuten since it was Ebates! Simply set-up an account and log onto their site before placing an online order. They link up to most major retailers and you literally get cashback every time you shop. In February and August, I get a big fat "check" delivered directly to my PayPal account. You can also opt for an actual check. Keep in mind, any returns will reduce your "check". I also belong to a variety of affiliate shopping programs. When someone buys something I've posted, I get a commission. Commissions vary from program to program, and some make you wait until you've earned $100 before you get paid.
3. Shop your grocery store circulars. Every Thursday night (most sales start on Friday), I sit down with a marker and circle everything I'm planning to buy. And then I stick to it! It's also helpful to plan out your meals for the week prior to shopping, so you know exactly what you need and if it's on sale. I go to at least two different grocery stores in our area. If something has a really good price, I stock up. And don't forget your local Dollar Store. We grab deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo and miscellaneous food items there. Just be mindful of pricing. The same can of vegetables for $1.25 at Dollar Tree can be on sale at your grocery store for 79 cents - or less.
4. Shop your local thrift store. I'll admit, it's hard to not to go crazy over all of the holiday decor cuteness. I often have to rein myself in. That's where your local thrift store comes in. As you know, for years I've been making my own holiday goodies from recycled thrift store finds. These two pieces cost me $3 (along with another piece not shown). All I need is some imagination and flat white spray paint, and I'll have some new holiday decor in no time. If you must give in to the cuteness or aren't crafty, Target's Bullseye's Playground and Dollar Tree should scratch that itch.
5. Hold the line. No, your kid doesn't need the latest iPhone, MacBook, etc. A refurbished or used one works just as well and will save you lots of green. One of my friends got a great deal on a MacBook for her college freshman simply because the box was opened. You see where I'm going with this? You'll be tempted by the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, but you might actually find better pricing at the end of the year. If you just can't wait, use a price comparison website to ensure you're getting the best deals. I'm a huge fan of RetailMeNot.com. And if you're buying online, refer back to #2.
These are just a few ways I'll be saving money this holiday season. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas! (No, I don't get a commission for mentioning any of the websites in this post.)

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween...everywhere we go.
Yes, I've started putting out Halloween pieces. I do a little each day so it doesn't feel so overwhelming.
As you can probably tell from my blogging absence, we have a lot going on over here. My high school senior is starting the college application process. Yikes!
My younger son is busy with Marching Band and marathon DnD (Dungeons & Dragons) campaigns with his friends.
My day job has gotten busy, busy, busy. (Given the state of the economy, I am not complaining!)
Unfortunately, when something had to give, it was blogging. I don't even think I'll be able to keep up with my LiketoKnow. It account. There are only so many hours in a day, and at 51, I'd like a little more downtime.
So while I'm not giving up blogging completely, I will probably continue to do a little here and there.

Hats off to Target and Dollar Tree for stepping up their autumn and Halloween decor this year!
You know I've been a full-fledged bargain-shopper since my One Cheap B*tch blogging days (God, I miss that blog!) and now more than ever, I don't want to spend any more than I have to - on anything.
Are you ready?! Because everything pretty much shown here is $5 and under: the fortune telling palms? Only $1.25 each at Dollar Tree (Marshall's has larger versions for $7.99 and $9.99). The gumball machines? They are last year Target finds at $3 a pop (they're $5 this year). Everything in the gumball machines are from Dollar Tree. The tiered tray decor? Mostly $1 from Target's DollarSpot. The pumpkin candles are $3. I'm not kidding!
This is my favorite time of year and it's easy to go a little overboard. But Target and Dollar Tree are definitely making it easier to stay on budget.

Can you tell I'm ready for fall? I'm definitely over the heat, humidity and the lack of inspiration that comes with it. I did manage to eek out these twine pumpkins earlier this week. I grabbed them from the local thrift store and just added my embellishments. Easy peasy!
And if you're by your local Dollar Tree, pop in for this adorable sign.

I found a wood cutting board at the thrift store on Friday. I had been trying to score one for a few weeks. After a couple of coats of white paint and some of these...
(I used the number Rub-Ons, of course) I have a new decoration for my kitchen! Total cost: $1.75 ($1.25 for the transfers and 50 cents for the cutting board).
I love how it turned out!

Who else is feeling like you're in that weird in-between holiday decorating phase? July 4th is over and it's too early to decorate for Halloween, sigh! The solution? I jumped over to Pinterest and dug up this sweet moon phases (free!) printable. It fits nicely in this Dollar Tree rustic frame. Hopefully, it will hold me over until my favorite decorating time of year...

It's hard to believe that July 4th is only a few weeks away.
I started breaking out the red, white and blue for Memorial Day and never put it away. With tomorrow being Flag Day, and July 4th around the corner, I just re-arranged things a bit and added new pieces.
Well, except for the Cracker Jack. I bought a 3-pack off Amazon over the weekend and it landed today. I made the red bead tassel yesterday.
I love showing off our patriotic pride. I'm still playing around with everything a bit, and I have a few other ideas I want to hammer out.
Have you started decorating for the 4th yet?

A few years ago I noticed a suspicious spot on one of my arms. After keeping tabs on it for a month or two, I finally went to the dermatologist. And boy, am I glad I did. The spot turned out to be pre-cancerous (yikes!). Lucky for me, the dermatologist was able to freeze it off (two sessions of liquid carbon dioxide - ouch!). Thankfully, the spot never returned. Since then, I've been a stickler for sunscreen. Here are some of my faves:
This budget-friendly option is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. I like that it's gentle enough for sensitive skin, but offers protection for UVA/UVB rays. The non-greasy formula is perfect for a busy lifestyle.
I've been a big fan of Neutrogena since my 20s. As a former acne sufferer, the brand has quite literally been a lifesaver. Much like its skincare line, this sunscreen is non-comedogenic and oil-free - a big bonus for me. I love the convenience of just tossing the can into my bag before leaving the house. It's also priced right at under $10 (depending upon the retailer).
This one is my splurge. You may think $32 is a little pricey for sunscreen, however Coola uses 70%+ certified organic ingredients. It's also fragrance free, vegan, gluten free and cruelty free. Like the more budget-friendly options, this one also provides protection from UVA/UVB rays and is water resistant for up to 80 minutes.
Whichever brand fits your budget, I remind everyone of the importance of wearing sunscreen (even in the winter!).

Disclosure: I may earn a portion of the sales from products included on my blog through an affiliate partnership with retailers. However, all opinions are my own.
Here's an easy project that only requires a small amount of time and supplies. You'll need some Dollar Tree garden stakes, Mod Podge, paper and a printer.
Once you grab your Dollar Tree supplies, head on over to The Graphics Fairy for some amazing vintage vegetable images. I found the ones I wanted and printed them off to the smallest setting my printer would allow.
Next, simply rip out your images. (I distressed the edges of mine for a more vintage look, but you could easily skip that step.) Then glue them on using your Mod Podge. Once that is dry, apply a coat to the top of the paper to seal in your image.
We're expecting rain tonight, so I'll be able to see how they held up tomorrow morning. Total for this project: $2.50 (for the garden stakes and Mod Podge; I had everything else I needed).

I'm back after a much-needed blogging break! I'm recuperating after our own weekend garage sale and ready to get my crafting/thrifting back on!

I'm still here! Just been taking a little bit of a much-needed break from blogging. Hoping to get back into the swing of things shortly.

Sharing super easy bunny silhouette frames today.
You'll need two of these Dollar Tree beaded frames. When you flip them over, you'll see the backing can be removed and you can add whatever background you like. I used peel & stick cork for one and cardstock for the other.
I used my Cricut to cut out my bunny silhouettes (using the Easter cartridge). If you don't have a Cricut, a quick Pinterest search for free bunny silhouettes will get you what you need. You'll have to cut them out yourself, though. You'll also need to cut your cardstock to size.
Once you have your bunnies glued to your background, simply add it to the frame, securing the back. Done and done!
This project literally cost me $2.50 for the frames. I had everything else I needed.
