A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

Can you believe I'm still working on pieces that I picked up at AmVets a week ago?!  This is the wood caddy that I got there that originally came from Michael's.  It was pink and had the word spring on both sides.  Here it is now:
I gave it a couple of coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Louis Blue.  I popped over to The Graphics Fairy to pick some French text I could quickly add to the front of it.

Using graphite paper, I carefully traced it on.  Then I sanded it down a bit so it looked a bit aged.

It's holding some faux cotton stalks I got from Decor Steals last week.  I haven't found a place for her yet and I'm still figuring out what I'm going to display inside.

I bought these lanterns from Home Goods about 5-6 years ago.  We use them on our porch but they started to rust a bit.  I didn't want to do dump them, so...
I gave them a fresh new look with a couple of coats of this robin's egg spray paint.  Rust-Oleum, I believe.
I'm going with a beach theme on the porch this summer and now they will fit perfectly with my vision.  And speaking of paint, my hubby finally re-painted our bedroom.  I'll post about that soon but here is a quick peak of the angel wings I got from Decor Steals a few weeks ago on my freshly painted wall.
The color is a soft melon.  It's what we originally had but through the years, the walls got dirty, had tons of nail holes, etc.  So now instead of looking at dirty walls and spackle spots, I can admire the fresh coat of paint.

It's snowing here and boy am I glad I was able to get in some spray painting on Saturday before the temperature dropped!  This is another salvaged piece from my late mother-in-law's house.  She had some dried flowers in there but I took it a part and gave it a quick makeover.
The frame was originally gold but I gave it two coats of flat white spray paint.  While that was drying, I used a bit of osnaburg fabric and this great French bee image that is floating all around Pinterest (thankfully my sister Kathy from Creative Home Expressions pinned it!).
I printed the image onto transfer paper and simply ironed it onto my fabric.  Then I hot glued the entire fabric insert (glued onto a piece of cardboard) back into the frame.  I didn't even put the glass back in.
I have it propped up in our guest room for now with a collection of crowns from Decor Steals.   Wish I would have centered the crown transfer more with the top of the frame but I can live with it.   I love how the osnaburg gives it a burlap look.

I popped into Target this morning because my 7 year old needed a new lunchbox.  Yup, only 3 weeks into the school year and the zipper on his first one broke already.  Doh!  I love going down the bargain aisle while I'm there.  Today I found this cute little wire basket for $2.50.
I've been wanting a small basket for our counter top.  I added some Decor Steals French dish towels I ordered a few weeks ago.  The oven mitt is also from Target.  I love the vintage-inspired farmhouse design.
These are the towels.
Again, it's a great size for the counter and I love how the towels and oven mitt fit perfectly!
