A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

I think I've mentioned before that I started my crafting endeavors 20 years ago when I made jewelry.  So how excited was I when I was offered the chance to review DIY Statement Necklaces, a new book by Erin Pruckno of Thanks, I Made It fame?!
I'm a HUGE fan of statement necklaces - the chunkier, the better. How fun would it be to make your own?  Well, this book shows you how.
How about this pretty?  The book tells you everything you need to get the look and how to DIY.
The step-by-step instructions are clear and easy to follow - even for someone like me who is admittedly a little rusty.
I'm still trying to decide which one is my fave.  There are so many to choose from (35 in all).

If you're looking for a little jewelry-making inspiration, definitely check out DIY Statement Necklaces.

I started putting out some Easter touches last week.  I didn't realize Easter was so early this year: April 5th.
This cutie is from Home Goods.  I picked him up last week.
This guy is also from Home Goods from a few years ago.
I put this bunny banner out every year.  I got it from Etsy a few years ago.
Have you seen these at Target?
And this guy?
Pottery Barn eggs.
And a peek at my pink boots.  I was so frustrated with last week's snow fall that I figured if I had to shovel snow yet again, I was doing it in pink boots!

This is the second of the two clipboards I made over last weekend using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
I wanted to give this one a spring feel so I used my new Cricut Chalkboard cartridge to make the word nest.  Like my first one, I used label paper so I just had to peel and stick the letters on.
I also upcycled this old bottle using a vintage medicine label that I found at Knick of Time.
And of course, you have to have a nest!  I switch out this pink cloche with an aqua one throughout the year.  I felt the pink would perk me up given that we just had more snow dumped on us yesterday.
The vintage advertisement on the clipboard is from the Graphics Fairy.

Loving my little nest vignette!

Okay, who hasn't snatched up these adorable faux eggs from Target's Dollar Spot?  I grabbed three cartons during my last trip and decided to dress them up.  Heck, I even painted the carton they came in!
I'm not decorating for Easter yet - but I do love bunnies and eggs (must run in the family because my mom and sister, Kathy do too!) and keep them out year-round.
I dressed up my eggs using French book paper, vintage sheet music, vintage lace, twine and other embellishments.  I used white Deco Art chalk paint on the carton.
I finished up by adding faux Dollar Store moss to the carton.  A super easy and super cute way to dress up your eggs this spring.

I have a ton of old clipboards lying about the house.  Some I've used for other projects and some were just collecting dust.  I broke out a couple out over the weekend to upcycle.
I used some black Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for this project.  Now I know ASCP isn't actually chalkboard paint, but it worked perfectly for what I had in mind.
I gave each clipboard a couple of coats of paint.

Using white label paper, I cut out the word love using my Cricut. Simply peel and stick and you have a faux chalkboard clipboard. Here it is, hanging in my kitchen.  I am waiting on a new Cricut cartridge for what I have planned for the second one.

Anyone else suffering from cabin fever????  I know I am.  That's why we had to get out to our local church thrift store on Friday.  I got a pretty good haul for $5.
They were having a $1 bag sale on books, so we loaded up.
Lots of great vintage books!
This pretty, shabby dish was only $1.
I also picked up this case with lots of vintage thread - and eggs?! Not sure how the eggs fit into the equation, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them with Easter coming.

My husband picked up a heavy duty sweatshirt and the boys picked out a bunch of books too.  Not bad for $5!
