A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

I had my big state test on Tuesday, so for the past couple of weeks I've been studying non-stop.  Studying does not leave a lot of time for crafting.  Still, I was able to squeeze in a few random projects.
I bought these wood arrows from Etsy.  They came un-stained; so I had my husband stain them for me.  After a few coats, they were the exact shade I was looking for.  We added them to a wall in our dining room.
I gave these little Dollar Store milk bottles a quickie makeover with some turquoise spray paint.  They look so much better now!
I played around with this wall behind our front door too.  It lacked personality with just the coat hooks looking back at us.  So I added this cute Kohl's tote and a straw hat.  It looks more inviting now.
I've also been doing some online shopping.  I finally scored Decor Steals bread box.  It's a little bigger than I anticipated.  For now, it's on top of our fridge until I find a more permanent home for it.
Lastly, we took a quick trip to Gettysburg, PA.  We had an awesome time camping out with the boys.  Lots to do and see.  We also learned a great deal about the Civil War.  Everyone loved it and we agreed to head back in the fall for another visit.

That's about it.  What have you been up to?

Even though the weather forecast called for heavy rain, we ventured out to The Elephant Trunk (New Milford, CT) yesterday. Yes, the same flea market featured on the show Flea Market Flip.
All I can say is wow! It was amazing.  But note the dark clouds in the sky.  We got rained on several times.  Still, we were all troopers. My eight year old barely complained.  Barely.
So much vintage and antique goodness to be found.
I felt some of the items I was interested in were a bit overpriced, but my husband and boys scored a bunch of loot.  Seriously, I only came home with a horseshoe.  Sob!
I really wanted to take her home but with all the chips and cracks, I just didn't want to shell out the $12 (and considering I've gotten most of my religious statutes for free or in the $2 ballpark), I had to pass.
This booth was awesome.  I loved the touch of the skull on the organ/piano.  Creepy and cool.
The experience was great and well worth the 1.5 hour trip.  We're planning another visit there for the fall.

I bought this vintage chalkboard a couple of years ago at an estate sale.  For a while, I covered the ugly green paint with sheet music and book paper.
Yuck, right?!  I always knew I wanted to re-paint it with black chalkboard paint and this weekend was the perfect time to tackle this project.  So I broke out the chalkboard paint and got busy.
Here it is now.
Using a chalk marker and stencil, I added my French graphics to the middle.
I have a few little spots I need to touch-up, but overall this baby's done!  What's nice is the chalk marker is not permanent, so when my mood changes, I can change the look with it.  =)

I've had this little, vintage children's toolbox (or is it a shoe shine box?) for a while now.  For a while I used it as a planter.  It got pretty beat up from the elements, so I decided to give it a makeover.
After a few coats of gloss red spray paint, I was a little stumped on what to do next.  I didn't feel like doing the Mod Podge transfer method and I didn't have any TAP Paper.  Instead, I just printed The Graphics Fairy's Union Jack image onto clear label paper.
I still have to smooth out a few air bubbles as you can see, but I love the look.  And all you have to do is peel and stick.
I did the image on both sides of the box and then just added some random white-painted bottles I already had.  It adds a nice pop of color to the porch.

I've been a very bad blogger of late, but I am still here.
I've been doing random projects here and there.
And finally hit some garage sales last weekend.
And enjoying the beautiful weather.

I will have some news in a few weeks.  I went back to school.  Well a very specific school, so I've been juggling home life, work, crafting and school over the past few weeks.  But I am still here.

Stay tuned!
