A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

Lucky me!  We had a bunch of small fall fairs and garage sales to hit this weekend.  Saw LOTS of overpriced pieces, but did manage to score a few gems.
This wreath is originally from Target.  The price tag says $25. Ouch!  I picked it up for $3.  And how great are the sleigh bells?  I love how they look just draped over the wreath.  They were 50 cents.

This vintage cow bell was only $2.  It's a nice one to add to my small collection.
The Bobsey Twins books were 2 for $1.  On top is a vintage biscuit cutter.  That was $2.  Ignore the dust on the floor.  We were getting our electric panel updated this weekend.  No power = no vacuuming for me.
I think these little Santa candle holders are adorable so I had to bring them home with me too.  Only $1 for the set of 2 - although they are marked $2.  I would have loved if they were facing right and left - instead of left and left, but what can you do?
I scored not one, but two, Scrabble games.  Of course, I grabbed them for crafting purposes but my boys enjoy playing Scrabble, so I'm letting them have the newer version to play with.  Got a bunch of fabric quarters in holiday-ish color palettes.
My 6 year old loves the cat and owl cookie cutters.  I'll be painting the wood server and giving it a Frenchy touch no doubt.  Looking forward to using it as centerpiece of sorts for the holidays.

Not a bad haul for the weekend.  Overall, I spent about $25 for everything (including some kid stuff not pictured).

I was only able to hit two garage sales this morning.  But they were well worth it.  The word of the day for me is definitely: scale.
This beauty has a little history behind it.  The owner said it came from the 56th Fighter Group - a great old bar and grill in Farmingdale, Long Island.

Sadly it closed not too long ago.  I was happy to grab a piece of it's history.

I don't where the rest of this scale is but I love the bucket piece.  And for $1, it was definitely coming home with me.

I'm already in the process of giving it a makeover.

It's been a gorgeous weekend here!  The perfect weather to hit some garage sales.  I hit about 5 or 6 of them yesterday and found a few goodies.
I love this vintage sleigh.  I saw a clever idea on Pinterest where someone made their sleigh a welcome sign for the winter holidays.  I'm definitely going to do something similar with mine.  It was only $5.
The shell plate was $2 and is from Pottery Barn.  Can't wait to use it for when we get fresh oysters over the summer.  The pieces of lace were $1 for all three.
I love embellishing spice jars so I grabbed these for $2.  The little wood shelf is going to get a makeover as well.

Not bad for $10!

Wanted to share some random garage sale/Goodwill/thrift store finds that I picked up this week.
I love this!  I'm not quite sure what it is.  The man at the garage sale said it used to go on the floor, on the bottom of the leg of an old radiator.  I thought it was something for a garden hose.
Either way, I love it's rusty, chippy goodness!  I'm definitely keeping it as is.  Thinking of putting a candleholder in the middle.  It cost $2.
This little table was only $5.  I'm planning on giving it a ASCP makeover this weekend.
It's been freezing here but it might be 70 on Sunday so I really want to take advantage of the warmth to paint.
I'm planning on doing nutcrackers up and down our stairs this year for Xmas.  Got the idea from Romantic Homes magazine.  The pirate one is from Goodwill.  The other is from a garage sale.  I only have three so I have to really get moving if I want to take over the stairs!
Last up is this wood tote.  Another Goodwill find.  Not sure if you can tell but it has snowflakes on it.  While I appreciate the snowflakes for Xmas, it's getting a Frenchy makeover.

Hoping to hit a few more sales this weekend.  On the hunt for those nutcrackers!

Not exactly a banner garage sale day in this neck of the woods.  Maybe because it's been raining on and off all week?!  I did manage to pick up a few goodies this morning:
Of course, you know I never, ever pass up vintage sheet music.  I got two of them today.  The Romeo & Juliet book was a dime!  And not sure if you can tell but that little black thing is a candleholder you can mount to the wall.  I'll be painting that white.
Wrapping paper is another item I never pass up at garage sales.  These were only 50 cents each.  I like all of the compartments in the wicker basket.  For $1, it will be getting a robin's egg blue makeover to match the utensil basket I did over the summer.

I spent about $8 on everything.  This weekend we're hoping to hit Brooklyn Flea. I'm sure it'll be crazy overpriced but since we live so close to Brooklyn, I want to go just to experience it!
