We have this itty bitty piece of wall in our livingroom.  It's hard to dress up because it is just so, well, small.  It is, however, the perfect size for these JOY picture frames.
I picked up the frames at our local Dollar store.  Never mind that candleholder sticking out.  It's on the opposite wall and I just couldn't get a good camera angle with it there.  You can see it below too - doh!  And my spacing is a little off but I refused to put another nail in the wall.
I used DaFont.com to create each letter and then printed them onto white cardstock.  Cut them down to size, stick them in the frames and done!

Quick, easy and a super cheap Xmas decoration.

I picked up this vintage sled at a garage sale over the summer for $2.  It's actually one of two that I scored over the summer.  I put the finishing touches on it yesterday and here it is ready for the holiday season.
I started by giving it a few coats of red paint.  The wood is so old that it soaked up the paint in seconds.  I lost count after 4-5 sprays. I let it dry for a few days.
The wood letters are from AC Moore.  I gave them a couple of coats of white acrylic paint before gluing them to the front.
This little touch of pine cones, leaves and berries is from Walmart. Yes, Walmart already has its holiday items out!
I can't wait to add this to our porch in December!  Cute story: this morning my 8 year old took a look at it, said he liked it and then promptly pointed out that it's not Christmas yet.  Out of the mouths of babes!

Do you have a favorite spot in your house where everything you display seems to fall right into place?  For me, it's a vintage desk that I snagged at a garage sale a couple of years ago.  It's in the corner between our livingroom and kitchen, and I love dressing it up.
This is the top of it in all of its holiday glory.
This snow globe was a summer garage sale find.  It plays a lovely song that I can't quite name yet.  Not sure if you can tell but it has a nativity scene inside.
The Santas are from Home Goods.  Found them last year.
Couldn't we all use a little JOY?  I picked up two of these from Kohl's.  The bird candleholder is from the Dollar Store.  I had painted it white and added some German glass glitter.  The little crown was a gift from my sister, Kathy (Creative Home Expressions).
And I finally broke out my little cloche.  I filled it up with some pine cones I painted white over the summer.
By far my favorite corner in the house!

Hurricane Sandy is on it's way to New York.  I figure I better get some posts in before we lose power.  With Hurricane Irene in 2011, we went 6 days without power.  Ack!  Fingers crossed, it won't be as bad as they are predicting.  Yesterday, I ran a bunch of errands to prep for the storm and popped into Ikea.  I picked up this four-pack of little metal stars.
So petite that three easily fit into this vintage Jello mold.  I created the little banners using this font from Dafont.com.  Have you been there?  They have the coolest fonts.  Ever!
I just saved this carnival-inspired one to my computer and printed out "noel," "peace" and "joy."  I cut the paper into banners, distressed them a bit and used Glue Dots to place them on the front of each star.
A really quick and cheap project.  The set of 4 was $3.99 at Ikea.  The paper, ink and font were free.  And now I have some cute little holiday stars for my Xmas tree or I might just keep them in the Jello mold.

To everyone else in the path of Sandy, please be safe!
