Okio B Designs: cloche

After seeing my sister, Kathy (CreativeHomeExpressions) transform a thrift store clock into a beautiful cloche, I was hooked! Like you probably do, I see these clocks everywhere: garage sales, Goodwill, thrift stores, etc.

This one I picked up from the Unique Thrift Stores last week for $5.99. After removing all of the clock pieces and tape (and boy did they have a LOT of tape wrapped around this thing!), I started by cleaning the glass and spray painting the base white.

Then I printed out some French script onto white cardstock. I used Mod Podge to add that to the base.

The base is a little bumpy because of the clock inserts but it still works quite nicely as a new cloche.

Here it is all finished. I'm loving it! And I'll never look at those old clocks the same way again.

I'm battling a summer cold which has kept me homebound since Friday. I finally made it out today...over to Home Goods. I figured some retail therapy might be what the doctor ordered. Lookie what I found on clearance:

This pretty French cloche! It was originally $12.99 marked down to $9. Woo hoo! Not sure if you can see but there is a crown and some other French etchings on it.

See it now? I love, love, love it!

I'm already dreaming about all of the goodies I can place under it! And for $9, it was a steal!

According to my calculations, there are 24 more days until the official start of spring. Good enough for me to start breaking out the spring and Easter decorations.

I have two cloches that I switch out depending upon the season/holidays. For Valentine's Day, I used my pink one but spring calls for this pretty robin's egg blue one.

I actually keep this nest out all year. It sits on a vintage typewriter in our corner cabinet. It fits perfectly in this cloche so I did the ol' switcheroo. I can't not have a little French touch, note the little Paris postmark fabric tag in the nest.

I'll be sharing more of my spring and Easter touches in the coming days.

This little cloche cost me a couple of dollars at a garage sale over the summer. I've dressed it up for Xmas and Valentine's Day and over the weekend, I gave it a simple spring touch.

Yup, I just added a roll of twine.

Then I made the butterfly tag with some French script and cardstock, and added it to a metal picture holder. It fits perfectly in the middle of the twine.

Super duper quick and I love the rustic look of the twine. I'll probably be adding a bunny to the cloche for Easter, but for now this works for me.

I had an extra box of these tin stars I got from Ikea before Christmas. I wanted to add a Valentine's Day touch to them so I headed over to The Graphics Fairy for these wonderful French pierrot clown images.

I printed them out onto cardstock and used Glue Dots to stick them on. I'm debating on whether or not to add red tea-stained seam binding or leave the twine. I kind of like the twine.

I'm displaying them in this cloche that I had filled with some pine cones for Xmas.

It was a garage sale find from the summer. I painted it white and added the Paris postmark - which is coincidentally also from The Graphics Fairy. They fit perfectly!

Really hoping Blogger gets its act together this week. I'm not sure if you've been having issues with uploading photos but I have...again. You have to add them using html which is such a pain for me. Sigh!

Do you have a favorite spot in your house where everything you display seems to fall right into place? For me, it's a vintage desk that I snagged at a garage sale a couple of years ago. It's in the corner between our livingroom and kitchen, and I love dressing it up.

This is the top of it in all of its holiday glory.

This snow globe was a summer garage sale find. It plays a lovely song that I can't quite name yet. Not sure if you can tell but it has a nativity scene inside.

The Santas are from Home Goods. Found them last year.

Couldn't we all use a little JOY? I picked up two of these from Kohl's. The bird candleholder is from the Dollar Store. I had painted it white and added some German glass glitter. The little crown was a gift from my sister, Kathy (Creative Home Expressions).
