A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

I was fooling around with my stamps and ink, and made these spooky spider web candles for Halloween.
I know some people roll their candles over the stamp, but I actually do the opposite.  I roll the stamp over my candles using Staz On ink.  It's a little tricky with smaller stamps, but, overall, I have good results.
I added some orange rhinestones to the middle of each web for a little sparkle and then tied them together with black tulle.

Another inexpensive project.  I had everything I needed!

In between the beach and a bridal shower this weekend, I was able to hit my local Goodwill on Sunday.  It's not as good as the one near my Mom's but I got some goodies to share.
My 7 year old picked out the plate.  He wants to use it this year for Santa's cookies.  How could I refuse - especially when I saw the Paris postmarks on there!
I swear I was just about to buy a similar bottle holder from Save-On-Crafts.  Glad I didn't!  This one is missing a bottle but it was only $4.99.
I also got a little ceramic white bird.  These were originally at Michael's.  I had one with a chipped beak so this one will replace it.  The bunny piece was just too cute, so I had to get that too.

My boys got a couple of video tapes and we wound up spending about $15.  Not a bad haul!

I'm sure I'm not the only one drawing inspiration from Pinterest.  I love it when I find a pin and have all of the components needed to be a copycat.  I saw a beautiful knife block someone did and knew immediately, I had everything I needed to make one too.
Our boring, old knife block now looks like this!  Of course, when I took my pictures most of the knives were in the dishwasher - doh!
I gave it a few coats of spray paint.  Originally I had planned to use a French label in the middle but it just didn't look right.  So I used a French script font to print out this large B (for our last name).  I printed it off on label paper so all I had to do was cut, peel and stick.
It adds a pop of color to our kitchen counter.  And since my color scheme is turquoise and white, it fits perfectly with the other touches of blue ontop of our cabinets.

Totally cost for this project: $0 as I had everything I needed!

To make me smile.  I haven't had a lot of crafty time the past few days.  School starts in roughly three weeks and although, I'm sad for my little guys to go back, I am looking forward to having more craft time!  Last week, I treated myself to these little bottles and crate from Save on Crafts.
Speaking of petite, today my baby turns 5.  He's a big boy now, he tells me.  Sigh!  Where did 5 years go?  In my eyes, he'll always be our petite prince.

With all the Halloween pins popping up on Pinterest, I have actually started making some Halloween items.  Crazy, right?
Maybe it's also because I'm dreaming of cool, crisp weather on these sweltering hot days.  Seriously, it's so steamy here, I can't even muster the energy to go garage sale-ing this weekend.
And Pottery Barn isn't helping with this cute Halloween banner.
I'm debating on whether or not to have a costume party this year.

I guess I have plenty of time to figure it out - especially while I take yet another dip in the kiddie pool to cool off.

I can't seem to get enough of cloches.  I have to admit, I'm running out of places to display them in the house.  That did not deter me last week, though, when I found my latest one at my Mom's local Goodwill.
The first one I made over, I did pink so I wanted to do a robin's egg blue this time.  I gave it a few coats of spray paint and then sanded some random areas for a time-worn look.
I'm not really loving the faux moss I have in there now.  I think I'm going to have to switch it out with a darker color that the Dollar Store sells.
One more look.  This is actually on top of my refrigerator where it will likely stay until I find a new spot for it.  What's nice is, it matches the touches of aqua I already have in the kitchen so maybe, just maybe, it will stay put.  Minus the faux moss.
