After seeing my sister, Kathy (CreativeHomeExpressions) transform a thrift store clock into a beautiful cloche, I was hooked! Like you probably do, I see these clocks everywhere: garage sales, Goodwill, thrift stores, etc.
This one I picked up from the Unique Thrift Stores last week for $5.99. After removing all of the clock pieces and tape (and boy did they have a LOT of tape wrapped around this thing!), I started by cleaning the glass and spray painting the base white.
Then I printed out some French script onto white cardstock.  I used Mod Podge to add that to the base.
The base is a little bumpy because of the clock inserts but it still works quite nicely as a new cloche.
Here it is all finished.  I'm loving it!  And I'll never look at those old clocks the same way again.

Here is the first of the weekend projects that I was able to accomplish.  I bought this little wood shadowbox from the Unique Thrift Stores last week.  It was just a plain pine box.  I decided to give it a French-y makeover:
I gave it a couple of coats of white paint.  While that was drying, I used some French script scrapbook paper for my background.  Then I popped over to The Graphics Fairy and printed out some random French images.  The Eiffel Tower is actually from a necklace I got at Forever 21 a couple of years ago.  My boys love that I used Scrabble pieces to spell out Paris.
There is another small charm on the lower right corner - not sure if you can see it.  It has a cameo look to it.  The finishing touches were Marie Antoinette and the hand-stamped little French crown at the top.

I love the touch of French whimsy it adds to my livingroom!

I popped into Unique Thrift Stores again.  I didn't have the boys with me so I was able to slowly go up and down each aisle and examine everything.  I spent about $10 and got these goodies that I will hopefully be transforming this weekend - weather permitting:
I love the little wood stand.  They had two but the other one was a bit wobbly.  Can't you just envision it in white chippy paint with a fabulous French graphic on top?
It's the perfect size for a stack of books!
The wood cutting board and shadow box I couldn't resist.  And I really love this wood carry-all (?!  Not really sure what to call it!).  Definitely going to get some coats of spray paint and I'm thinking of stenciling something vintage-y on it.
These little frames were $1.41 for all three.  I don't love the floral one - I mainly got them for the other two small ones which have a fleur de lis motif on them.

Here's to hoping I can get a dent in these over the weekend!

We had the perfect weather here this weekend to get a little spray painting done.  I immediately got to work on the cloche stand I got from the Unique Thrift Stores.  You can see the before in the post preceding this one.  Here is the after:
I used pink for a soft, spring look.
I added a vintage lace doily on the bottom and this little nest with eggs.
I thought it was still missing a little something so I added the Paris fabric tag as a finishing touch.

Have you heard of Unique Thrift Stores?  They are like one giant indoor garage sale.  I know they are scattered throughout the country.  This morning we headed over to one in Levittown that I probably drove past a thousand times and never took note of.
I was like a kid in a candy store there and the prices were pretty reasonable - $5 and under depending upon the item.  The glass cloche with stand was only $2.92.  I can't wait to clean up the salt and pepper shakers, and the little tray.
I'm thinking of doing these fleur de lis candlesticks in black.  The little bottles will be perfect for my Etsy shop...once I French them up.
I also got some vintage sheet music and goodies for the boys.  Yup, I'm sure I'll be heading back there soon.  We didn't even get a chance to rifle through the clothing and accessories.
