I picked up this little candleholder at a garage sale on Friday.  It was black when I bought it and here it is now:
First, I spray painted it white.  Then I used Mod Podge to glue on my French script paper.  I used it on the back panel and then cut a little strip for the rim.
I hung it up in my tearoom.  I added a new candle design from my Etsy shop to it.  This one had a little oopsie so I couldn't sell it but it's just fine for my tearoom.
For 50 cents, I have a sweet little candeholder now!  I had everything I needed for this project.

Yesterday was an absolute perfect day to hit Brooklyn Flea.  It was our first time ever going and on Saturdays it's located in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn.  I am originally from Flatbush but I was way too young when we moved to remember where in the world Fort Greene was.  Thanks to GPS we found it!  Hold onto your hats!
This was definitely a junkin' lover's dream.  Checkout that vintage scale on the ladder.
Love the barn stars and olive baskets!
We loved seeing all of the vintage treasures but I have to say, as expected, it was a bit pricey.  The apothecary bottles on this table alone ranged from $30-$75.  What?!
Checkout all of those suitcases!
My boys!
The best part of the whole experience, I think we all agreed, was the food!  They had every type of food you can imagine - not your usual festival fare.  We ate Indian, Greek, Japanese and then some.

Unfortunately, I didn't buy much else.  I picked up a mason jar soap dispenser and a vintage target practice poster.  I'll show that find in another post because it really is quite unique.  My 7 year old got an electronic chess game - similar to one I had when I was little - for $5.

Brooklyn Flea runs until November and we're hoping to hit the Williamsburg one before they close for the season.

Not exactly a banner garage sale day in this neck of the woods.  Maybe because it's been raining on and off all week?!  I did manage to pick up a few goodies this morning:
Of course, you know I never, ever pass up vintage sheet music.  I got two of them today.  The Romeo & Juliet book was a dime!  And not sure if you can tell but that little black thing is a candleholder you can mount to the wall.  I'll be painting that white.
Wrapping paper is another item I never pass up at garage sales.  These were only 50 cents each.  I like all of the compartments in the wicker basket.  For $1, it will be getting a robin's egg blue makeover to match the utensil basket I did over the summer.

I spent about $8 on everything.  This weekend we're hoping to hit Brooklyn Flea. I'm sure it'll be crazy overpriced but since we live so close to Brooklyn, I want to go just to experience it!

This is the first year I've ever painted pumpkins.  I don't know why I didn't do it sooner!  I love the look.  Kind of a nice break from the usual orange.
All you need is a couple of cans of spray paint.  I used a flat white and chalkboard paint.
I want to do at least one more with the chalkboard paint because, well, I like being able to write/doodle on them!

I don't know about you but when I craft, I just can't seem to throw out bits and pieces of paper, cardstock, etc.  While those random bits come in handy occasionally, they are taking over precious space in my little craft room/office.
In between the movies and pumpkin picking this weekend, I broke out this petite dollar store clipboard for a quick organizational makeover.  First I spray painted it white.  Once that was dry, I Mod Podged some vintage sheet music to the front.
The bits of lace on the top are some of those random bits and pieces I was talking about.  Luckily they fit quite nicely on top.  I used the cover from an old sheet music book to make a pocket for the bottom of the board.  I printed out the French receipt from The Graphics Fairy to add my miscellany wording.
Now I can nicely tuck in some tags that I use as thank yous for my Etsy shop, and other small random pieces that I just can't seem to part with.
