A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

I'm calling this my accidental Santa pillow.  Yup, I never intended to make a pillow yesterday.
I was working on some decorative bowl filler sacks using some vintage fabric.  I got this great ticking from Etsy earlier in the week from one of my favorite shops - Kitteridge Mercantile.  Anywho, I had this long piece and after I had sewed the sides and bottom, I realized it was too long for a sack.
Long story short, I ended up adding some filling and closing up the side that was still open.  So now I had a plain pillow.  I went through my crafting stash and couldn't find anything I liked to add to the front.  I spied one tiny piece of iron-on transfer paper and printed off this Santa image.
Problem was, I had already stuffed the pillow.  Could I iron-on the transfer when it wasn't completely flat?  The answer to that question is yes!  It was definitely tricky but as you can see, my image transferred on just fine - albeit, it's a little light.  I added a grungy bell and 25 tag on a red safety pin to finish it up.

And that is the story of my accidental Santa pillow!

I'm so enamored with religious pictures and pieces these days.  It's definitely reflected in some of these random projects I've been working on.
This one was inspired by Rhonda from Little Bit French.  She made the prettiest French journals last week that I just couldn't stop myself from pinning all over Pinterest.
I actually found the religious image on Pinterest after my sister (Kathy from Creative Home Expressions) had pinned it.  It's just so lovely.  I've used it on bottles, tags and now this little book.
I purchased these downloadable images from Etsy last week.  A little smaller than I expected, but the perfect size for some petite tags.
I have these in my Etsy shop.  I used some of them in my necklaces as well.  My late mother-in-law was a devout woman and I feel as though I'm paying homage to her with these religious pieces.  I think she would have loved them!

I finally got around to Goodwill this morning.  Not exactly a banner day for me.  I feel like I need a t-shirt that says I went to Goodwill and all I got was this:
Chess set and little metal urn.  I had my eye on a set of shabby chic plates but they wanted $14.99 for the set - a little more than I was looking to spend.  The chess is for my boys.  And the little urn is actually quite heavy.  I'll have to give it a fresh coat of paint.  Meanwhile, I whipped up some petite French pillows yesterday.  It felt good to dust off the sewing machine.
I hand-stamped the images onto each pillow. Staz On really is the best ink and even though they say it's not for fabric, it works quite well and does not wash off (I have the oopsies on several pairs of jeans to prove it!).
Both pillows are in my Etsy shop.  Now what to add to that urn...

Look at these cuties from the Dollar Store.  A pair of glittered reindeers - what's not to love?
I picked up a few this morning to add around the house.  Look how adorable the little bells are too!  And as we're decorating for Xmas, nothing like the smell of...
Warm cinnamon!  We break up cinnamon sticks, add water and boil until the house smells wonderful!  And speaking of wonderful, I've started my Etsy Cyber Monday code today.  Use CYBERMON for 35 percent off in my shop: Okio B Designs.

I picked up this little table a week ago from a garage sale.  I gave it a quick makeover using some Annie Sloan chalk paint and a French graphic I bought from Etsy some time ago.
I gave it two coats of ASCP on Sunday when it was semi-warm out.  Yesterday morning, I took my reversed image and Mod Podged it to the top.  Eight hours later, I used a wet paper towel to remove the paper - leaving just the graphic.
Once all my paper was off (or at least most of it!), I sanded it down a bit to give it a more aged look.  I then gave the top a coat of clear spray paint to seal the image.

I'm definitely getting better with the Mod Podge transfer method.  Wouldn't quite say I'm an expert yet as I always seem to have some random bits of paper that just won't come off.  Either way, I'm  happy with how my little $5 table turned out.

*Don't forget to enter my giveaway here!*

I picked up this little candleholder at a garage sale on Friday.  It was black when I bought it and here it is now:
First, I spray painted it white.  Then I used Mod Podge to glue on my French script paper.  I used it on the back panel and then cut a little strip for the rim.
I hung it up in my tearoom.  I added a new candle design from my Etsy shop to it.  This one had a little oopsie so I couldn't sell it but it's just fine for my tearoom.
For 50 cents, I have a sweet little candeholder now!  I had everything I needed for this project.
