Please, please, whatever you do, don't forget the sunscreen this summer.

My dad - who is half Irish and half Cuban - just had skin cancer removed from one of his arms. I had a pre-skin cancer blotch removed from my own arm 5 years ago. So to say I'm taking SPF seriously this summer would be an understatement. Even if you have melanated skin: you. need. sunscreen. Now go get some!

It's hard to believe the 4th of July is next week. I mean, didn't June just start yesterday?!

I didn't have enough time to actually DIY this year, but I'm sharing some old familiar favorites from previous years. I still display the faux flashcards I made a couple of years ago, and this Target gumball machine still houses the red/white/blue decorations from last year.

New this year: adding a variety of flags to this vintage Stanley thermos. It's happily sitting on our porch.

And I always break out this little, vintage red matchbox fire truck.

This is one of my favorite views in the she-shed.

I kept the decorations to a minimum this year. Sometimes less really is more...

Have you been to Dollar Tree lately? I can't believe all of the new beauty products they have - and they're all still just $1.25.

I'm sure you've heard that they will be raising their prices again. They already have some items for $3 and $5, but so far their beauty offerings have remained at $1.25. I grabbed a few of these masks as a pre-Mother's Day treat to myself. The strawberry one smells divine!

Mr. Bubble will come in handy after a long day of gardening.

And how sweet is this popsicle-shaped bath sponge? I couldn't resist.

I also picked up some nail polish (Sally Hansen), cotton balls, rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

What do I skip in the beauty aisle at Dollar Tree? I avoid skincare brands I've never heard of, as well as fragrances, mascara and sunscreen.

If you've been wondering where I've been and what I've been up to, there is no easy answer. Yes, I'm still here, but I'm going through a bit of a blogging transition.

Do you ever feel like you've successfully completed all of your projects and just don't feel like starting a new one? Or that blogging is taking up way too much of your time? That's precisely where I'm at.

I'm not sure if the creative juices have temporarily dried up or if I'm just satisfied with everything I've sanded, painted, hand-stamped, upcycled, etc.

I'm ready for the next chapter - whatever it may be. I'll still continue to thrift shop and do a project here and there, but I suspect moving forward my blog will be more focused on ways to save money and life lessons I've learned along the way: two things near and dear to my heart.

I hope you'll join me on this new journey. If not, I understand. You can still find me on Instagram and Pinterest, where my past projects continue to live on.

They're popping up everywhere - much like they do in the great outdoors. Mushroom decor seems to be the it home decorating trend to start off 2024. I was sold back in the fall when I upcycled some ceramic Dollar Tree ones. Now I'm seeing them all over the place: Amazon, Pottery Barn, Marshall's and Five Below, among others.
