A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

Yes, I have already started decorating for Halloween.  I just couldn't help myself.  Since October starts next week, I figured it can't be that bad.  Right?!
I found this wood tote lurking in our basement.  I don't remember buying it and it's identical to the one I got at AmVets last month.
I gave it a couple of coats of black paint to start.  Then I printed out some Halloween images on label paper.  This one is from The Graphics Fairy.
The side ones are from Pinterest.  I've used them several times already and they never get old.  Well, at least not to me!
Believe it or not, this is in our bathroom.  Ordinarily I have a pink wood tote in there but for Halloween, this fits quite nicely on the toilet tank (of all places!).
I tucked in lots of spooky and autumn-inspired treats.

The boys love it, and so do I!

I finally got around to finishing up this wood tote I bought at Goodwill over the summer.  I had painted it red, but then it just sat and sat in the garage.  I asked my boys what they thought I should add to it.  Santa won hands down.
First I gave it like a gazillion coats of red paint.  It was originally white with silver snowflakes on it.  Try as I might, those darn snowflakes are still showing through.  Sigh!  You probably can't see them but I do.
I used some vintage Santa images to put on the front using Mod Podge.  Again, not sure if you can tell, but there is some German glass glitter on them.  It's so dreary here today that even putting it on the window sill, you still can't see the glitter.
I filled the inside with shredded sheet music and these big, round balls, ur, ornaments.  The boys love it.  I'm just glad I finally finished it.

Remember that Home Goods wood tote I posted about last week (here)?  Here it is now:
I originally wanted to paint it white but I ran out half way through.  Plan B: pink.  I wanted to make it really girly and yes, it is in our bathroom - right on top of the loo (so much nicer than saying toilet).  The starfish hand towels are from Pottery Barn.

I added some vintage lace on both sides.  Then I printed off the French image from The Graphic's Fairy and added them to both sides using Mod Podge.
I added this great Marie Antoinette image to both of the skinnier sides using Mod Podge.  Once that was dry, I added the rhinestone embellishments.
Then I added some Frenchy touches inside.
This tag is actually a thank you from an Etsy purchase.  I added the French script button because I accidentally ripped the tag when I added the tea-stained seam binding.  Oops!

I'm really loving it and it's exactly the girly piece that I imagined it could be!  Linking to The Graphics Fairy: Brag Monday and Between Naps on the Porch: Met Monday.

I am in the process of giving this Home Goods' wood tote a makeover.  I actually remembered to take some before photos for once:
Not loving the yucky brown.  I bought it a couple of years ago and I don't quite remember why.  She ain't pretty.
And after sitting in the tea room holding magazines and books for a couple of years, she was filled with cobwebs and other little creature remnants.  Bleah!

Right now she's sitting in the garage after the first coat of paint.  I want to do something spring-y so I'm thinking either white or pink.  And I have the perfect little embellishments that I just picked up from Michael's.

Wish me luck!
