Pinterest Knife Block Copycat

August 16, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
I'm sure I'm not the only one drawing inspiration from Pinterest.  I love it when I find a pin and have all of the components needed to be a copycat.  I saw a beautiful knife block someone did and knew immediately, I had everything I needed to make one too. Our boring, old knife block now looks like this!  Of course, when I took my pictures most of the knives were in the dishwasher - doh! I...

Just a Little Something...

August 14, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
To make me smile.  I haven't had a lot of crafty time the past few days.  School starts in roughly three weeks and although, I'm sad for my little guys to go back, I am looking forward to having more craft time!  Last week, I treated myself to these little bottles and crate from Save on Crafts. Speaking of petite, today my baby turns 5.  He's a big boy now, he tells me.  Sigh!  Where...

Call Me Crazy...

August 11, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
With all the Halloween pins popping up on Pinterest, I have actually started making some Halloween items.  Crazy, right?  Maybe it's also because I'm dreaming of cool, crisp weather on these sweltering hot days.  Seriously, it's so steamy here, I can't even muster the energy to go garage sale-ing this weekend. Quick Cloche Makeover

August 07, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
I can't seem to get enough of cloches.  I have to admit, I'm running out of places to display them in the house.  That did not deter me last week, though, when I found my latest one at my Mom's local Goodwill. The first one I made over, I did pink so I wanted to do a robin's egg blue this time.  I gave it a few coats of spray paint and then sanded some random...

Goodwill Crate ASCP Makeover

August 05, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
I picked up this little wood crate for $2.99 at Goodwill last week.  It was just a plain ol' run-of-the-mill boring wood crate.  I decided to jazz it up a bit with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I gave it two coats and then sanded down the edges for a shabby look. I used this great French banner from The Graphics Fairy on both sides.  I added the "le jardin" using the French Script...

Petite Marie Antoinette Chairs

August 02, 2012 / BY Okio B Designs
A couple of days ago, I picked up some petite, metal, hanging chairs from Goodwill.  They were red and black - not quite my top color choices.  So today I gave them a shabby makeover: I gave them a coat of white spray paint before I broke out the pink.  Once that was dry, I printed out this Marie Antoinette image I bought off of Etsy a month or so ago onto white cardstock. I...
