A craft, food, fashion, home & shopping blog

I'm not sure where I picked up these fleur de lis candle holders.  I believe it was a couple of years ago at Big Lots.  Anywho, the candles got a little icky and wouldn't light anymore.
The glass has a kind of iridescent glow to it.  A little boring if you ask me so I got busy preparing for a quickie makeover.  After removing all of the gross wax, I gave each a couple of coats of flat white spray paint.
And here they are now!  Sooooooo much better and more my style.
I gave one a Paris address tag tied on with twine.  The other has some French book paper.
And a tag and French clothes pin.
I love the milky white color now.  They almost look ceramic.

I think they still make for some nice candle holders, but wouldn't they be cute to hold office pens, plants, etc.?!

Just a few random pieces I worked on earlier this week.
I bought these spice jars a couple of weeks ago at a garage sale.  Now they are all dressed up in their Frenchy best.
Another upcycled garage/estate sale find.  I have a larger one I'm also working on.
Tea, anyone?  Love this stamp from Hobby Lobby.  Also used it on some glassine sacks.

Hoping to hit some more sales tomorrow!

We had a lot of fun junkin' in Winchester over the weekend (even though it was 100 degrees).  Here's what I grabbed while we were there.
Love these vintage tags!
The flower frog was only $5 which I thought was a steal and the iron foot form was only $3.  I'd never seen an iron one before.  I have two wood ones in the house so this was a nice find.  Plan on using it as a doorstop.
My husband can't figure out why I grabbed this pulley.  I just couldn't pass it up for $5.  I'm sure I'll figure something out.
Lots of sheet music.  This whole stack was 79 cents.  Woo hoo!

We were going to try and hit some garage sales there too but we were all pooped out after the flea market and the heat.

We just got back from a wonderful road trip to Virginia (Winchester).  My sister, Trish lives there and we try to visit her at least twice a year with the boys.  In addition to good conversation and some good eats, lookie what I found...
Hobby Lobby!  First time I ever went to one and my-oh-my, now I know what all you other ladies have been gushing about.  I could NOT contain my excitement!  My hubby and boys did not share my sentiments but I didn't care!
I picked up some great goodies that Michael's and AC Moore do not seem to carry here.
Some great new stamps and tags!  I plan on aging the clips.
Pretty fleur de lis doorstop and new French script stamp.
I thought the prices were surprisingly reasonable.  The little jar was only $5.99.
Of course, couldn't leave the South without stopping by Chick-Fil-A.  We don't have them on Long Island.  Yummy!

And my little guy lost his first tooth at the hotel last night.  I don't know how on earth the Tooth Fairy found us (wink, wink).

We also hit an outdoor flea market.  I'll share those finds tomorrow.

Good to be home and back to blogging.  =)

I wasn't able to go garage sale shopping last weekend so I turned to items I had readily available for some quick makeovers.
Yup, food cans.  The big one is from a can of baked beans.  The smaller is from a can of alphabet soup (my little guy's favorite!).
It's amazing what a few coats of paint and some lovely French graphics can do to some lowly tin cans.
The images are from The Graphics Fairy, of course.  I used some waterslide decal paper again to add them to each can.  I noticed it works better on spray painted items rather than ones I've painted with chalk paint.
I filled them up with sand so I could add some of my French script candles.  I love the look and the fact that I'm recycling!  Will I ever look at tin cans the same way again?  Probably not!

I'm so enamored with religious pictures and pieces these days.  It's definitely reflected in some of these random projects I've been working on.
This one was inspired by Rhonda from Little Bit French.  She made the prettiest French journals last week that I just couldn't stop myself from pinning all over Pinterest.
I actually found the religious image on Pinterest after my sister (Kathy from Creative Home Expressions) had pinned it.  It's just so lovely.  I've used it on bottles, tags and now this little book.
I purchased these downloadable images from Etsy last week.  A little smaller than I expected, but the perfect size for some petite tags.
I have these in my Etsy shop.  I used some of them in my necklaces as well.  My late mother-in-law was a devout woman and I feel as though I'm paying homage to her with these religious pieces.  I think she would have loved them!
